1. Real Designers, Not Auto Software
If you’ve been in this hobby long enough, you already know: automatic “photo converter” software is why many custom kits turn out grainy, gray, or unrecognizable. That’s why DYC uses real designers — not filters or batch scripts — for every single custom order.
And no, this isn’t a place where designers pump out hundreds of renders a day. Each designer only handles a few custom pieces daily, because the work is done manually — pixel by pixel, tone by tone — adjusting your photo until it drills beautifully.
Here’s what our designers actually do:
- repair overexposed or underexposed areas
- fix muddy or unnatural skin tones
- enhance pet fur (direction, density, highlight points)
- remove distracting background noise
- simplify tiny details that would turn to “pixel mud” on canvas
- add free AB-drill accents where sparkle makes sense (eyes, jewelry, light spots)

2. Professional Color Mapping (The Part Most Brands Hide)
Color mapping is where the real magic — and the real failures — happen. Most brands never talk about this step, because it’s usually just “run the photo through software and hope for the best.”
At DYC, mapping is done by hand. Yes, manually — grouping tones, adjusting gradients, and ensuring the design works with **physical drills**, not just pixels on a screen.
What our mapping designers check:
- remove tiny “noise dots” that would turn the canvas messy

3. High-Precision Printing (Clean Symbols or Nothing)
After the design is finalized, the canvas moves to printing — and yes, this part is much more technical than people think.
In the factories we work with, the print room looks exactly like what long-time crafters would hope for: dust-free tables, industrial printers, and operators who actually zoom in on the design to check symbol legibility.
What matters during printing:
- 450–720 DPI industrial print resolution
- eco-solvent inks that dry cleanly
- symbols that stay crisp even when magnified
- no ink bleeding into the canvas weave
- accurate alignment between mapping file and printed grid

5. SGS-Certified Eco Glue (Evenly Applied + Oven-Cured)
Your video captured something most people never see: the industrial glue application machine and the curing oven behind it.
This part matters more than any other step — a canvas with uneven glue will drop drills no matter how good the rest is.
DYC uses SGS-certified, non-toxic, low-odor adhesive, applied evenly with industrial coating boards. After coating, the canvas goes into a 60–80°C curing oven for around an hour — this stabilizes the glue and increases long-term adhesion.
Curing gives you:
- stronger bonding (drills stay tight for years)
- no chemical smell (many brands skip this step)
- no sticky overflow on the edges
- balanced tack across the entire canvas
This is one reason DYC canvases rarely have “patchy glue spots” — a problem old players know all too well.
6. 24-Facet 2.7mm Drills + 50% Extra Supply
In your video, you saw the drill packing area — entire walls of color containers, automatic counting machines, and individual packets sealed for each symbol. It’s one of those “so this is how they actually do it” moments in a diamond painting factory.
For DYC customs, we use 2.7mm gold-standard drills with 24 facets. A lot of cheaper kits cut corners here — 2.5mm or 2.6mm drills, uneven molding, dull facets, or inconsistent sizes.

And because real crafters know drills can get lost, mixed, or stuck with static, your custom order includes 50% more drills than required.
Most brands give 10–20%. We give 50% — because when a tray spills, you shouldn’t have to panic.
7. Visual Testing & Alignment Checks
You saw in the factory: workers inspecting canvases, checking drills, reviewing prints. For DYC customs, this step is crucial — it’s the last moment to catch issues before production.
Our team checks:
- whether eyes, noses, and small features render clearly at your chosen size
- whether gradients are smooth or need human adjustment
- the balance of dark and light areas (avoiding “black holes”)
- whether AB drill placement feels natural or needs shifting
- symbol clarity under magnification
For standard designs, we also perform real drill test-pasting — physically placing drills on canvas to confirm alignment and spacing. For custom designs, we apply the same visual criteria, even if the physical paste test is skipped.

8. Final 5-Step Quality Inspection (Before Boxing)
In your factory video, the packaging line was one of the most impressive parts — workers checking canvases by hand, sealing diamond packets, adding protective paper, shrink-wrapping, boxing, and finally loading cartons.
